Review of Evacuation Centre activation and management arrangements

Resilience NSW engaged Risk-e Business Consultants to review their evacuation centre activation and management arrangements. This included customer and stakeholder interviews with specific reference to:

  • Preparation for the event

  • The activation and notification process for establishing an evacuation centre during a disaster event

  • The process for opening an evacuation centre including operations, equipment, communications and reporting

  • The process for the operations of an evacuation centre, including daily management and reporting

  • The resourcing of an evacuation centre including the required skillset and capability of staff and community partners who are managing and staffing the centre

  • The process for closing an evacuation centre

The final report provided a comprehensive review of evacuation centre operations and management arrangements along with issues, challenges, and risks moving forward. The report also detailed a recommended approach, resources and timeline to implement changes.
