NSW Independent Bushfire Inquiry

Black Summer Review

In January 2020, The NSW Premier announced the establishment of the NSW Bushfire Inquiry, noting that it was to be completed by the 31 July 2020.

Mr Dave Owens APM was co-chair of the inquiry along with Professor Mary O’Kane. The 2019-20 bushfires were some of the worst in the world and in recorded history. The Inquiry worked to understand what happened during the 2019-20 bushfire season and how it was different to previous seasons.

The Inquiry Report is over 400 pages and made 76 recommendations, all of which were accepted by the NSW Government for future improvements to how NSW plans, prepares for, and responds to bushfires.

The report is an example of the work undertaken by Risk-e Business Consultants.
